Sailing on Innovation: Myrtha Pools Event in Barcelona during the 37th America's Cup Finals

During the final of the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona, Myrtha Pools organised ‘Sailing on Innovation‘, an international and exclusive event for architects and engineering firms. The meeting brought together key players from the world of water, wellness and architecture to present Myrtha’s innovations in terms of efficiency, design and sustainability. The event aimed to highlight the company’s contributions to the future of aquatic and wellness facilities, with a focus on the latest solutions for the hospitality market.

An integral part of the event was a visit to the historic Club Natació Barcelona (CNB), which has played a central role in the promotion of water sports since its foundation in 1907.

“The new CNB aims to be a model club focused on the values of sport and the care of athletes with an inclusive vision, both physically and mentally. It will offer world-class facilities and develop athletes and para-athletes. An economically and environmentally sustainable centre is a guarantee for the future.  A future that is synonymous with Myrtha, our strategic partner in the world of aquatics” said Xosé Carlos Fernández, CEO of Club Natació Barcelona.

The CNB, located on Barceloneta beach, has hosted nearly 200 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including water polo star Manuel Estiarte. Myrtha Pools, a long-time partner of the CNB, has been instrumental in the club’s growth, with the first Myrtha pool installed in 1999 and new expansions in 2024 with a water polo pool, a salt pool and two hospitality pools. Further expansion will include a diving pool and wellness area in 2025.

During the visit, Roberto Colletto, CEO of Myrtha Pools, expressed his pride in the long-standing relationship with CNB, stating: “It is an honour to continue this journey with CNB. The renovation redefines what an aquatic centre can be. It shows how Myrtha can contribute to aquatic sports, leisure, and wellness. I am proud to present this project to our clients and architects as it demonstrates our innovative solutions and sustainable technologies.”

In addition to the CNB tour, the core of the event was a series of presentations covering the current year and future plans. Roberto Colletto, CEO of Myrtha Pools, opened the session with a welcome message and a presentation on the latest hotel solutions – alongside Trevor Tiffany, President of Myrtha US – and major sporting events such as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Speaking about the recent Paris Olympics, Cecilia Gross – Venhoeven Architects – explored the design and planning challenges of the Olympic Aquatics Centre, the only permanent sports venue built for Paris 2024.

Andrzej Truszczynski, architect at TKHolding, then took the stage to present the “Water Factory” project, a visionary initiative in which Myrtha technology has contributed to the creation of a unique public facility where water is the central element, both recreational and educational.

Presented by Joe Cerrone of RDC Design & Build, the session continued with a discussion of water projects for hotels and luxury condominiums in Miami, which highlighted Myrtha’s ability to provide world-class rooftop pools. Pools that can withstand even the strong Caribbean winds and storms.

The event also explored Myrtha’s innovative work in lagoon and surf projects, with Santiago Lopez Garcia – architect of L35 Studio – and Matteo Bazzaro (Myrtha’s International Business Director) discussing developments at a major Spanish resort. This session highlighted how Myrtha is expanding its technology to meet the growing demand for aquatic leisure spaces that combine functionality and luxury in the world of property investment. Finally, Andrew Gibson’s expertise in the world of wellness, together with Stefano Cattaneo (Director of Myrtha Wellness), concluded the day with an in-depth look at how Myrtha’s technology is revolutionising the wellness sector, highlighting the company’s commitment to creating luxury private spa and wellness spaces.

The ‘Sailing on Innovation’ event, held against the backdrop of one of the world’s most prestigious sailing competitions, was the perfect platform for Myrtha Pools to reaffirm its leadership in aquatic innovation. With a mix of innovation, sustainability and visionary projects, Myrtha proves to be the ideal partner in the world of pools and wellness.
