Hawthorn Park Apartments
Dubbed “Melbourne’s First Sky Pool“, Hawthorn Park features a bridge pool suspended seven stories high in between two luxury residential buildings with acrylic windows on the bottom and sides of the pool.
The steel frames of the bridge were lifted by two cranes, while the Myrtha pool structure was assembled on top of the bridge using modular stainless steel panels that were easily transported by a goods lift.
The pool creates a thrilling experience for both swimmers and spectators alike, as if swimming in mid-air. From the pool view, swimmers can see the courtyard directly below them while underwater.
The project is an engineering masterpiece with the design having to take into consideration deflection in the bridge structure of up to 50mm caused by the weight of the pool while also maintaining a watertight seal in a pool tank featuring acrylic panels in multiple locations.
Myrtha Pools worked alongside Commercial Pool Consulting & Aloha Pools to deliver this landmark project in Melbourne’s exclusive suburb of Hawthorn.
