Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center - Colorado, USA

Pikes Peak Athletic Club chooses Myrtha!
Pikes Peak Athletic Club located in Colorado Springs recently built a world-class facility that included an indoor 25 yard by 25 meter, 10 lane Myrtha Pool. Their aquatic center includes both the headwalls and starting blocks that were used during the 2016 Olympic Trials in Omaha, NE. The training center was built to provide state-of-the-art facilities, consistent offerings, and top quality programs for their community.

The Training Center
The complex is named after Pikes Peak, America’s most famous Mountain. At 14,115 feet it stands as the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in North America. The athletes at Pikes Peaks enjoy some of the most breathtaking views in the world. The facility also includes a gym, yoga room, spin area, and a physical therapy suite operated by Orthopedic Rehabilitation Associates Clinic.

The Pikes Peak Athletic Competitive Swim Team
For the second year in a row they’ve been named a Bronze Medal Club from USA Swimming. They believe strongly in alternative training methods, providing a detailed program for each individual and using the whole-person approach to create well-rounded athletes. Their mission is Top Instruction, Peak Activity.

We were able to sit down with George Heidinger, Owner & Coach of Pikes Peak Athletics to ask him about his Myrtha experience:

How would you describe your experience with Myrtha?
“Our experience with Myrtha has been great. Understanding that each specialty pool build is unique unto itself, the sales and manufacturing teams were quick to answer questions along every step of the way. The customer service tone has always been positive, can-do, and up beat, and response time was quick and effective. The beauty and efficiency of the end result speaks for itself, both for those that use the swimming pool and those that maintain it.”

What made you chose Myrtha over traditional construction?
“We chose the Myrtha product because of the steel design, the excellent quality and precision of its components. In Colorado soils tend to shift and we felt as though the steel structure would hold up better than concrete or plaster over the long term. The Myrtha brand is tried and true. There is a reason that they are used extensively for international competitions as well as qualifying competitions; Myrtha’s exact engineering allows for accurate construction, the pools are aesthetically attractive, and of course they are fast!”

What impact has the facility had on your club and community?
“The Myrtha Pool installation at our facility has created quite a buzz. Throughout the construction process and from week to week since opening we have had a steady stream of visitors who are interested in checking out the steel design, and to see a pool that features cutting edge components. People want to see the type of pool used at Olympic Trials and World Championships. This is a big deal for people who know and love swimming. Visitors and members at our pool comment often on the exquisite details of the pool’s structure, from the cleanliness of the liner, to the sparkle of the tile, to the polished stainless steel. The Myrtha headwalls and starting blocks are another very popular feature. Our swimmers are truly gratified to use this indoor swimming pool. “
