In the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad, in the heart of northern Karnataka, a long-held aspiration of the region's sporting community has finally taken shape. The new aquatic centre at Sport Complex Hubli marks a defining moment for swimming in the state, bringing international-standard aquatic infrastructure to the region.
The facility, the fourth Myrtha pool in India, was inaugurated in March 2026 by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, underscoring the strategic importance of the project within India’s wider effort to develop world-class sporting venues across the country. This vision gained significant momentum with the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad and its Myrtha pools, alongside the country’s ongoing push towards a bid for the 2036 Olympic Games.
Myrtha Pools installed a 50-metre, 10-lane competition pool designed using its modular stainless-steel technology. Built in compliance with World Aquatics standards, the facility is equally suited to athlete training and year-round community use. The depth profile, ranging from 1.35 metres at the swimming end to 5 metres in the dedicated diving area, creates a genuinely multifunctional aquatic environment capable of supporting elite swimming, diving training and official events.
The choice of Myrtha’s modular technology brings advantages that extend well beyond opening day. The pre-engineered stainless-steel panels ensure high dimensional precision, while helping reduce construction time and limiting the environmental impact typically associated with traditional concrete construction.
